2 A.M. at the Heartbreak Hotel

I'm finally bobbing to the surface to report on my journey (the last few days have certainly been a whirlwind!) and I'm coming to you live from the Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis, just across the street from the gates of Graceland. Brooke and Aaron and I are nestled in our room and some horrible Elvis movie is showing on the all-Elvis-all-the-time channel on the TEEvee (there was even some acting a minute ago!) while our Champale is chilling in the mini fridge and the moon pies are layed out on a plate with a doily waiting for the moment of celebration to arrive.

Today was spent making our way from Mount Pleasant, Texas, through the whole of Arkansas. I spent time poking about in both Texarkana and Arkadelphia with splendid results. Due to the obscenely late hour, I will have to defer a full report on my bracing adventure at the Arrow Bar in Texarkana until tomorrow (or actually later today) when I anticipate having much more time to write.

In the meantime, I leave you with the interesting discovery I made while on the road today. Doubtless you have heard about the metamphetamine craze that has been sweeping our nation for many years now. You may wonder to yourself, "Where on earth does all that speed come from? It must take a lot of crank to keep the American public happy!" Well, while travelling the backroads of Texarkana, I stumbled across yet another remote rural manufacturing plant that finally helped me understand how it is that the robust supply can so easily be maintained and you know how? Why, it's boys and girls! Turns out it's children that help keep our speed industry so efficient and profitable! Those little hands can turn out pills like you wouldn't believe!

Is America great, or what?

My window was just large enough to read what you said before scrolling to the picture. I think it will be 3 or 4 days before I quit giggling to myself.

I thought "WTF is she talking about... little kids... crank.... has she gone completely mad?!?" Then I scrolled down to the picture. That was great. I am crying I am laughing so hard.

Yeah... it might not have been so funny if my screen was bigger but it sure was with the thoughts going thru my head.

Thanks for keeping me entertained on your trip!
Love you.
